Portraits of Tanzania
photographic exhibition by Marko Todorovic
Travelling across the Continent over the years, Marko Todorovic has examined illustrative and documentary research materials, selected works of art, words and pictures in Africa, and about Africa. The reality reproduced in the case of photographer Marko Todorovic, produces a restrained attitude of respect for the people of East Africa, the outcome being not strictly "high art", or a social or anthropological study. We observe Tanga, Dar es Salaam, Korogve, Arusha, Mount Usumbara, Pemba Island and Zanzibar. Adults absorbed in their daily occupations, children on their way to school, enjoying their childhood through games and singing, Todorević’s Portraits from Tanzania are never sentimental or rhetorical, but always turn to intrinsic goodness and innocence - indeed the global superiority of the "common man".
