KENYA, TANZANIA & UGANDA: 1937-1939

The “Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda: 1937-1939. Photographs by Koloman Trčka” exhibition presents 80 black and white photographs with scenes of life and work of the poeples of East Africa, as well as European businessman and tourists of the region at the time of the British colonial administration.
The photographs that Koloman Trčka made 80 years ago document the encounters between peoples from different sides of the world, record the distance and interveawing of their views, reveal the power relations.
The exhibitions features photographs of Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Kampala urban environments, images of rural population in fields and village markets, as well as landscapes of the Swahili coast, source of the Nile and the highest peaks of Kilimanjaro.
