European Heritage Days 2015 at the MAA

September 20th-30th 2015

The “Days of European Heritage” event take place each September in Belgrade.

Through educational and art programs, European heritage is presented as the culture, tradition and customs of all citizens of Europe.

This year’s theme of the Days of European Heritage is: “Old and traditional customs: preservation and sustainability”.

During 10 days (September 20-30th) the Museum of African Art will present student guided tours through the permanent display, talks with artists who participated in the project and exhibition “The Border is Closed”, film projections and creative workshops.

 

Program

*Entrance to all programs are free

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily

  • Permanent exhibition: examples of West African traditional art
  • Curent exhibition: “The Border is Closed” an exhibition about migrations and identities

As part of "The Border is Closed" exhibition - workshop with artist Nena Skoko and students of the School for Design, Belgrade (textile department).
Inspired by works on the exhibition "The Border is Closed" - pillows embroidered with migrant messages, students with artist Nena Skoko wil create messages for the children placed in Centers for Asylum Seekers. Embroidered messages on scarves and pieces of cloth will be given to refugee and migrant children across Centers in Serbia.
The exhibition is open for all those interested in observing or making a message on a scarf.
